Hi,
WaterGate 0.93.p2 exported the netmail created by TimEd (showing '100 as
the year) and it ended up in the following date field:
"Date: Fri, 01 Jan 100 00:04:1 GMT+1"
Which is wrong in two ways. First of all, it should have been a saturday.
Second, it reads "100". Now, this is possible because TimEd messed up the
date field. I will add support for this. Notice that the seconds are
messed up as well - probably cut off.
The "From_" field showed a correct, WaterGate generated, date:
"From wsd.wline.se!ramon Sat, 01 Jan 00 00:06:53 GMT+1"
Although I have to check that the two digit date it allowed. It is for
information purposes only though. I don't think any program will interpret
that date/time.
[...]
I just checked the original netmail and it contained the following invalid
date:
"01 Jan 100 00:04:1"
So that's why it messed up. I will add support to WaterGate to correct
this. Expect most if not all other tossers to process this without looking
at it (FidoNet 'standards' tell them to do this), so your inbound .PKT
files are likely to contain this error
.
I tried moving the message (with TimEd) to a JAM and Squish area, but the
same erroneous date was shown by TimEd. I have not verified the stored
dates in the message bases yet.
[...]
I now changed some date/time conversion routines in WaterGate 0.93.p4 and
will export this message using that version.
More tests to follow...
Ramon
