i hear ya! my g'mother is still quite self-sufficient... she works rings
around me all the time when i go for a visit ;) i wish i had half her
pizazz... it must be due to her living off the land of their farm... home
raised cows, hogs, chickens, and vegatables... nothing commercial until
probably 25 to 30 years ago, for the most part... my g'father passed only
13 - 15 years back and that due to meds the doctors told him he needed... i
look at my g'mother and at what she/they consumed and i just can't believe
that doctors have it all down correctly... fatback, bacon, sausage,
chitlins, eggs, whole unpasturized milk, homemade butter and sour cream,
fruits off the trees, fresh butcherd beef, lamb... gimme a break! that's
all there was and she is no exception... i actually miss hog killin' time
:(
