Hi Robert,
at 96 January 6th, you wrote to me about: Mic Splitters

In our own business we usually take a stage-box that provides an
FOH-feed as well as a passively coupled monitor-feed.
For that just wire the hot and cold strings of each mic to your desk
parallel to those ones of the FOH-feed and make sure to give your
console a single ground (eg connected to the sleeve
of an unused line-in). If you have a three-phase power-supply (don't
know how that one is usually called in the US ;-) ) best choice is
to take one for FOH (amps, driveracks, desk), another for monitors
and the third for the backline. Try to get your supply from the
monitor-phase out of the same plug if it is stable and the load is not
already too high (are your desk-light already flashing in the
beat?). ;-)))
Best choice -of course- is to use a transformer-split for the
recording. Maybe you can hire one for that evening...
Have fun on that night and best wishes from good ole Germany,
 'til nexttime
