John was speaking when Will spoke up....
JA> Long time no hear! How is the weather treating you? With
JA> it has been beautiful here. We are still mowing our yards! Beats the
JA> heck out of shovel and uumph!
   Greetings John,
Sure can't beat the weather. Great days & cool nights to stay
inside & listen to music. I've enjoyed your posts on what & why you've
been changing things around, and wishing I had a decent listening room!
JA> both patch and speakers. I have been using balanced Monster Interlink
JA> 200s between pieces (big name, about $15 per 1 meter pair, and as far
 JA> as I can tell...good performance.
I got a good deal on some LiveWire(?) Jade cords & have happy with
them. Not sure if they're 2X better than the Monsters, but I didn't pay
the 2X retail price & I like them. ;)
JA> against them over the years. I cannot honestly tell you if I am just
JA> becoming a better listener, getting old, or if these indeed make a
JA> valuable difference or give me consistant hallucinations of better
JA> sound. Really, it doesn't matter as I really like the way they sound.
My experience is the more you listen, live & recorded, the better you
get at hearing those subtle differences. Then, getting older we usually do
lose hearing in the high range & hallucinations/delusions become more likely
too. But you're 100% on the mark with 'if it sounds good to me.' I
cringe at the kid's boom-box sounds but they like it. However, they are
sing
my system more & will say it sounds better to them. I'll admit their music
does sound better to me than it used to!
JA> I would suggest getting the Audio Advisor Catalog first.
JA> and "bulk" purchases (unterminated) are a heck of a lot cheaper than
JA> presentation box terminated cables. I bought the Prime 1000 cables as
JA> the RSC technology is something I have been reading about and got over
Thanks for the phone #, I'll give a call. I used to buy cable in
5000' spools for $0.10/ft when terminated sets went for $1.00/ft, sold a lot
at $0.50/ft, & paid for some of my audio habit. Bulk is the way to go.
JA> Seems like some of the Echos are dwindling and disappearing.
JA> We have lost several formerly MAIN multi-line BBSs here in the valley
JA> over the past few months. I hate to see it. Many of the old time FIDO
Same down here :( I can only find AUDIO on one BBS & haven't really
gotten into I-net newsgroups. Suppose I will, if only to sample the 100's
of opinions out there & chuckle over the latest audiophool tweaks & magic!
	Happy Holidays.....
