Until very recently, there was no reliable way for a man to learn
this information.
Nowadays it is often possible for a guy to say, "I want a kid of my
own" and start afresh with a new spouse but the fact remains that the
detour is often ruinously expensive and men don't always keep their
fertility into old age.
It has often occurred to me that a smart woman politician would
take the anti-feminist side of this issue. A lot of good will would be
obtained from guys for little or no loss of well-being for the
womenfolk. The thing is, DNA paternity testing is indeed becoming
common/routine and there is little reason for women to think that they
are actually going to get away with this sort of trick in the future.
If I were Hilary R. Clinton I would get out in front on this issue.
It is better than being trampled from behind, especially if one wants
to lead.
A lot of politicians are being very short sided on this issue.
Arguuing, as some have, that testing should be dis-allowed or that
non-paternity is no escape from child support will never prevail over
the fact that testing is easy and cheap and guys will always care a lot
what it shows.
