| subject: | Re: Finding Unchurched 25-35s |
From: "Mark Hessey" Well you missed me by 9 years or so, but if we go back 19 years to my age 25 it had already been 12-13 years since I'd been to a church service and prior to that it was primarily of the "Sunday School" variety. I can't really think of a single inducement you could have offered me then, or now, that would result in my becoming "churched." While I think that a lot of good may come from a group of people with shared religious beliefs, I don't necessarily think that organized religion has any dibs on enlightenment. I'm perfectly content in my individual beliefs and don't require support of others to confirm same. I think you'll find that most "unchurched" people that have made it to the age group you're interested in recruiting, are long past any interest in organizations, though many do explore the longer established world religions/philosophies on a personal level. If you want to get them in the fold and keep them there, then you're probably better off starting some kind of agenda at the grade school level.
