Mike -
No doubt drilling out the panel and either putting a second
jack there would decrease the "collectibility" of the
receiver. It has been done however. I did one about 30
years ago because I got tired of reaching around the side of
the receiver, between the receiver and speaker, to try and
pull out that right angle plug (not an easy trick) when I
wanted the speaker on.
By the way, the front panel phone jack is not exactly
wonderful either, since you then have this long phone plug
backshell and cord sticking out between the AF Gain and
Function switch. This can be a problem, depending upon
whether you are right or left handed.
As for selling it, the value would depend upon whether the
prospective buyer wanted a receiver to use, or one to sit on
the shelf and admire.
