I wrote a quick little MEX last week that is capable of doing just what you
want. It's basically just an enhanced "Who_Is_On" replacement which closely
monitors all user activity for display when a user checks to see what other
nodes are doing. It logs this activity also. You can run it from any MEC file
or link it to any menu option in MENUS.CTL...you can even update node
activity when MAX is done and control has been returned to the mailer.
EG:
  NoDsp MEX StarWho\StarWho_Playing^Falcons^Eye Normal "1"
        Display_file misc\dorinfo+k Normal "1 Falcon's Eye"
  NoDsp Xtern_DOS fe.bat_%k Normal "1"
The first line runs the StarWho MEX passing "Playing Falcons Eye" as the
activity. This shows up both in "Who_Is_On" as well as an entry in my log
file.
This isn't something I was planning on releasing, but I suppose I could do
some work on it to make it more universally compatible for other systems
(It's pretty much hardcoded to my own setup)
Let me know what you think. Even if you aren't multinode, it will work to
make the log entries you want.
