I see, my termonology is wrong.  I see two types of back-ups, one where you
set the archive bit, and one where you don't.

I don't think luck has anything to do with it.  I know I back up all my files
once a week, and all files that change since then daily.  I don't need 7 back
up files, just two, one full, and one partial, or incremental, or
differential, whatever name is given it.
