Hey, it works!  It works!  Thanks a million.  
If anyone can figure out how to get that last remaining ESC keypress to work 
also, it would be even better.  Why is a write-delay "eating" up a keypress 
anyway?  Shouldn't the keypress still be executed after the save is 
ompleted?
(Regardless of the length of the saving delay?)

        You are welcome.  It's fun making {COMMO} macros do things
that terminal users can't get any other terminal to do .

        I tried adding a NUL keypress after the second  .. this
did the deed on my system.  If one doesn't work for you, try adding
several "00" keypresses before the ESCape keypress, "1b".

        If you have an external keyfake program, such as STACKEY,
that has a delay function, you could use that to delay the last
keystroke.  That's not as clean as using the internal {keys } tho'
