Fast Scan (Ham) TV and Broadcast TV signals are 6 Mhz wide. WAY beyond what a
scanner can do.
OTOH: I could be wrong. Maybe Bill Cheek's working on a scanner mod for it.
All the real-time TV radios I've even seen have been special units.
However with a scanner (and a proper decoder and monitor) you could get:
FAX
Slow Scan TV
Radio TeleType
ASCII (Computer to computer)
PACKET (like what we do here on the BBS's)
AMTOR "
PACTOR "
GETOR (spelling?) "
If the scanner supports AM and has a BFO (or LSB/USB switch):
CW (Morse code)
SSB (Ham voice)
If it goes low enough in freq you could get all that stuff
from around the world instead of local. Or you could always
use a Shortwave receiver for world-wide signals.
