RH V8.0 all up2date, KDE w/4 windows. I had to reboot system yesterday, power cord came loose, and when booted back up I did get a couple items fixed, Namely the printer printing from pine reading mail. It is an HP 845C and the plain text was sort of faint. I found the setup menu and changed it to print text as postscript or something. But when I went to restart my TVwindow I got no sound. In fact all sound was kaput. I know no physical problem but did have to find in the KDE system settings the sound card detection had to be run, Viola Sound returned for my TVviewer. But my sounds when changeing windows, the unique sounds like 'crash', 'kaboom' do not work. I just cannot find the menu to set those. Nor can I find how to set the system bell. It just refuses to test or work. Sound CD's play fine. This is my major grip with Linux RedHat KDE, there are just too many mouse window options and many go to same thing, Its like a maze, I thought it was under Preferances, Sound and System Notifications. That menu does not lead me to setting the window changing sounds. So anyone have a clue Then to top it off after clicking on say the redhat icon at bottom bar, going up to the preferances menu and cliking to the sound etc and system notifications and making any change one cannot get back to the menu just the blank window to start the process all over. Anyway I need some clues. Warren --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Ocean Beach CA, (telnet): ob.darktech.org (1:202/745) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/745 261/38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
