I just watched AS GOOD AS IT GETS. Lovely movie. It's for sure that
Helen Hunt deserved that Oscar. I liked her in TWISTER, but her
performance with Jack Nicholsen made her TWISTER character look like a
cardboard cut-out.
Mz. Hunt gets an OUTSTANDING from me, Jack gets **** and, what the hey,
the movie deserves its awards also.
Actually, the movie was something of a surprise. I was expecting some
kind of bed-room comedy froth. I got that, but it wasn't really froth,
turning out to have real substance. Instead of just Jack,
the A**hole, it delved into many areas and personalities.
I guess you could call it one of those "feel good" experiences. I needed
that after several of the "big" movies have left me feeling kind of like
I'd missed the main course. (I left DEEP IMPACT feeling somewhat
empty, and I expected more from CITY OF ANGELS).
I'm glad I saw the picture, which says it all, I guess.
