Hello mark. 04 Aug 04 22:07, you wrote to me: ml> i don't see it that way... at least there's native software for my OS ml> that i can use to make the updates... remember, you get what you pay ml> for, too ;) You have to use native (propreitary) software? If lynx or wget are available for OS/2 then you can use a single program with a few command line options to perform the update. There are also open source update clients for various other platforms and even something written in perl. If rexx can access a webpage via http then a simple script could be coded there too. http://www.zoneedit.com/doc/dynamic.html#faq3 MB>> You can go buy a domain for two years MB>> (half that price) and host it at zoneedit.org for free. ml> host it? you mean the web pages on their server? sorry, no can do... ml> my stuff is all way too integrated behind the scenes for anything like ml> that to work... Where did I say that? :-) They host the domain on the DNS servers. Where you point the records is your discretion. The only difference is that you're not just buying one record but getting a whole domain for hosted for the price it costs to register the domain. I checked and you can host up to five. If you want more it will cost you but you would have to host 6 domains before needing to purpose a zone credit which is cheaper than the dyndns service. MB>> Zoneedit supports dynamic updates too except you can do it MB>> with your own domain. Check it out! Something like the first MB>> few domains hosted there are free. Only if you go over do you MB>> pay. ml> i've checked with zoneedit and still have a reply from them around ml> here somewhere... i forget what my question was at the time but their ml> answer was "no" and/or not satisfying... You sure it was them? I am fluent in DNS and I cannot find anything limiting with what they offer. They are one of the few that also do DNS correctly placing the primary and secondary on different autonomous systems.
