Let me interject...
I'm Steve Peters, Sysop, and run a Hayes Accura 288 v34 on the Reboot
BBS, PCBoard v15.22.
 John has a 144 "Linelink" external and can only connect at 4800.
The Hayes Accura gets a PCBoard modem default setting init string and
answers about 15 calls a day reliably at full speed. I have the UART
ports locked at 57600. All other callers connect at there full modem
speed.
  The "Linelink" has been able to connect with other BBS's at 19200. I
dont know what John is using for a init string. I suspect that his
default init string has been changed in the modem. How can John restore
his factory default settings? or anyother testing commands would be
appreciated.
...mean time we will try calling from another location.
Steve
ps... here is the PCBoard init string given to a Hayes Accura 288 V34:
using factory: &F
ATQOV1X4W1&C1&D2&K3&Q5SO=OS2=255S95=44
