well as the context it is in and the illustrations, etc. It is a "Whole"
package. Certainly every good kindergarten teacher (and remember in
Canada a lot of places have Junior Kindergarten - here in Scarborough
 we mostly have family groupings of JK/SK) that I know
helps the children figure out words by looking at the letters, etc. It
is the way I teach. But we learn a lot of this through charts or the
"Morning Message" that is written every day.
I have a friend who teaches Kindergarten that has children entering
grade one who are writing at a level you would not believe - they can't
all write but a large percentage do - even some of the juniors!
