As I recall, he recovered from the first serious car accident.  But it
affected his health thereafter.  And I believe that he was later in
another car accident, which I thought he had also survived.  But I think
that somewhere in there, even before 2000, he had dropped from the
scene, possibly to work for another company that might have taken rights
to his work had he continued with it...?  It's a vague memory at this
point, and those that might have been inside track are all long gone,
probably.

But we've had no news in here about George since shortly after Y2K, when
there was all the discussion about updating things, and needing/wanting
permissions to do so if he wasn't able to.  I've heard rumors that he is
no more, but IIRC, those who thought that had placed his demise earlier
than I knew he was still around, so I don't know.

And to answer Jean's question... nope, not me... :(   Nothing lately.
