GL> Nancy, please tell me about creating a BW index on Doc's Place or in
GL> the BW program itself. Thanks.
NB> Well, it's not exactly a BW index, but the index (.idx) files that a
NB> QWK packet needs. :)
NB> I just checked out the configurations both places. At Doc's there
NB> isn't a specific command to build index files, but I know that his qwk
NB> door does do something about it. What I did see, was one thing that is
NB> connected with it, the CONTROL.DAT file in the packet. [M]essages,
NB> [Y]our Settings, [O]ffline mail settings, [13] Small CONTROL.DAT,
NB> should be set to NO. That way it doesn't take shortcuts that might
NB> make problems.
Nancy, I did check my Doc's Place settings. The Small CONTROL.DAT
optiion was already set to NO.
NB> In your BW reader Configuration area, go to the Global and choose Mail
NB> Packet Options. One of those is Build QWK Index Files. The choice is
NB> between Always and Detect. "Always" will build any necessary index
NB> files, whether or not they were already there. "Detect"
will check to
NB> see if index files exist, and if so, assume that they were built
NB> correctly, whether or not they actually were. Mine is set to
NB> "Detect", and I have never had any problems with Doc's.
I use BW ver. 2.30. The "Build QWK Index Files" option was set to
"Always". So I changed the setting to "Detect".
NB> Hope this helps. :)
Your advise did help since this current QWK file was unzipped
correctly. BTW, I use an old DOS version of Norton's Editor as my
text editor.
