>You also invalidate the need for convoy and the ability of Jem'hadar=20
ships or anyone else to engage in deep space. Starfleet could keep it=20
heavy units at the terminal points instead of following the freighters=20
around. Since they can only be attacked when at sublight speeds, the=20
attackers wouldn't hang around in deep space either.

Actually, escort vessels would be used to discourage enemy ships from shado= wing
the transport vessels, and to send the message that attacking this convoy m= ight
not be the best idea. Actually, "Starfleet keeping its heavy units at
term= inal
points" is exactly how I did it. The objective of the Dominion was
not to = capture
deep space, but to capture the planets and the space installations. Deep
space remains generally empty. Remember, in Steve-Trek, I have Federation
ships zipping through Romulan space without much of a care, because the
Romulans can't stop them as long as they don't get too close to a Romulan
planet.

>Making warp less sacrosanct and torpedoes a bit zippyer is better=20
dramatically as I see it.

Well, there are the warp torpedoes, and if the Jem'Hadar had such weapons a= nd used
them, especially the cloaked variety, then they could take a heavy toll on
Federation shipping. Similarily, Dominion ships would be vulnerable.
Take= n to this
logical conclusion, of course, planets or anything else could be attacked
b= y cloaked,
unmanned torpedoes. I prefer not to carry it that far. Ambushes of ships = leading
to their destruction while at warp could happen (and in fact did happen in
= "The
End Game") but space battles at warp, no.
