At this point, my recommendation would be for the OP to take the matter
up with his IT department and his management, with the argument that he is
unable to do his job without having some of these tools installed.
Or buy his own RPI, a USB keyboard/mouse, and HDMI cable (maybe with
adapter to DVI), and do all his work from the non-company provided RPI. Ah
-- but they probably would complain about the addition of a non-approved
Ethernet switch...
I used to think my employer was overly strict -- but they had
procedures in place to request software if it wasn't already in the list of
non-standard but obtainable. They also allowed reading from any media --
but writing required something with encryption (Aegis Secure Key -- and,
strangely, they considered my personal Blackberry phone to be an "approved
device" when I connected it to charge [the USB charger I used for my Nook
didn't provide enough current for the phone])
