Why We Are Here, the rules of engagement a monthly reminder

The Star Trek Creative Mailing List.  This is an unmoderated list (in the YahooGroups
sense) owned by Garry Stahl.

The Rules as they are.

1)  The Topic of the List is Creative Writing, with a preference for Star
Trek, and Sci
ence Fiction in general.  Off topic traffic is tolerated to a point. 
Extensive use of the
mailing list for off topic traffic will be called by the moderator.  Take
it to normal e-mail.
1a)  Cross posting of anything from the FIDO Star Trek Creative is always on topic.
Anyone who feels up to the work will be thrice blessed by the great Buddha,
or deity of
your choice.  (Thank you Paul & Dean)

2)  English is the official language of the Mailing List.  Persons posting
in other Lan
guages will be spammed by Microsoft.

3)  Profanity will be tolerated within reason.  The occasional damn or even something
stronger will not be commented on if moderation is applied to usage.  You
are expected
to keep your posts polite.
3a)  The story rating is "R".  Descriptions of nudity or even
sexual situations, characters
using occasional profanity, or extreme violence are not prohibited.  Graphic descrip
tions of, for example, Odo having sex with the entire staff of DS9 is right
out.  If this be
censorship, so be it, my mailing list.  If you have to publish pornography,
try alt.startrek.creative.erotica.moderated  Bump and grind is easy, we
want creativity.
3b)  YahooGroups will accept file attaches.  However, we have subscribers who cannot
or will not accept attaches.  Please do not post stories as attaches.  Try
to keep story
mail to under 25k per individual mail.  Use several posts if you must. Services like
Juno and the FIDO Gateway have byte limits on the size of mail, keep it in mind.
3c)  Story posts are encouraged.  This means that occasional large gouts of mail will
cross the system.  Some stories are novel sized.  This is considered normal
for this list,
and membership in the list is consider acceptance of receiving this mail.

4)  Personal abuse or flaming of anyone in the mailing list is considered grounds to
have your access cut.  First offense is 30 days, second is banning.  I don't care how
much I like someone, this rule I will not bend. 4b)  Getting banned from
the FIDO Star Trek Creative Echo will be considered grounds
for banning in this mailing list.  Whether Paul reciprocates this is
entirely up to him.

5)  the moderator is always right when moderating.  I am Joe Shmoe when not
ex-cathedra.  I don't abuse people for disagreeing with me.  So please,
feel free
(everyone else does.)
