You betcha. Will compile on at least 4 native OS/2 2.x compilers
as well!

ac> Version7 nodelist lookup shouldn't be too difficult, but rewriting the

It is reasonably complicated.

ac> Squish MSGAPI code is no small task. How are you managing to do that? Why

No, that hasn't been rewritten. If you look at my paragraph
above, I am still saying that MSGAPI is not PD. But then MSGAPI
was never distributed with MSGED in the first place. You're
expected to get and implement that on your own.

ac> do you want the entire application written using PD code? Is this
ac> important?

It is if you want people to reuse your code. As it stands now,
someone can pick up MSGED, add a whole lot of features to it,
and people can pay for the new features, instead of having to
pay for the entire thing to be developed from scratch. Also,
it means any work that I, or anyone else does, modifying or
bug-fixing MSGED is not wasted. You can afford to spend the
time reading other people's code in the knowledge that you
can lift entire sections of that code (e.g. the screen handler)
with no restrictions. I hate having to make changes to
copyrighted code, because the resultant product is as useless
to me as part of my collection of utilities as it was when I
started.

ac> BTW, what are your future plans for MsgEd?

You've heard of hot potatos, haven't you? :-) I certainly
plan to fix reported bugs, and I will entertain simple
enhancements. I will also look at lifting the next
restrictions on messagebase size (I expect there to be
restrictions at the 32767, 65535 and 100000 levels).
Hopefully I can lift that to 2 gig once and for all.

PE> P.S. It was either you or Rowan that wanted me to generate
PE> REPLYID even if I wasn't going to generate MSGID. Check it out!

ac> That'd probably be Rowan. Good feature that.

Yeah, even I admit that I am conforming to that spec!

BFN. Paul.
