Here's another adage.  "Leave the toys in the toy box."

Men have married prostitutes and written about it.  The reports are
universally bad.  One married a hooker in Rio and brought her to the
US.  On a trip back to Rio to visit her parents, she stole away to a
nightclub and turned a few tricks.  She'd been doing it so long that
she couldn't stop.

No, and I can't imagine that any reputable group of scientists would do
such a study, and if they did, it wouldn't mean much.  I doubt most men
who marry prostitutes know they've married prostitutes.
