Ullo Sean!
Subject: [My Current Top Ten]
DS>> The Cure - Boys Don't Cry
sd> Very good album! Used to have it, lost it, now have "Staring at
sd> the Sea-The Singles".
I still love The Cure and am planning on picking up a copy of an album
that I believe was called The Forest (Correct me if I'm wrong /please/ !)
whenever I see it.
DS>> 9) Dire Straits - Dire Straits
sd> Terrific band. Still brings back memories!
Same here, I was unfortunate enough to spend a week in a hospital in Oban
during my teens and the only tape I had in my walkman was that album,
*all* *week* !!
DS>> 6) Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax
sd> Heheheh. Got into trouble when I played that back in high school
sd> at a dance.
I remember taking a copy of the single up to my home village from
Edinburgh where I was at school, and playing it at a village hall disco!
Much to the annoyance of those in charge!!
sd> 8) Siouxsie & the Banshees - Israel I remember "Peekaboo" (the
sd> only song that was recorded completely backwards, I believe) and
sd> "Kiss Them For Me" (I believe)...
My only real memories of Siouxsie & The Banshees was a gig at The
Playhouse in Edinburgh where I managed to get right down to the front and
spent most of the night admiring the view! I had a pretty sore neck the
next day!
DS>> 9) Depeche Mode - New Life
sd> My all-time favorite band. Gosh, I can remember when "New Life"
sd> came out... am I getting dated or what?
Likewise! I saw them on that tour in a small club. :Fantastic: it was!
DS>> 10) Village People - Y.M.C.A.
sd> A wee bit before my time, but I still listen to it. Know the
sd> dance too (much to my wife's chagrin!).
I really just put that in to see if I could get a reaction. However I do
have the single and love it!
sd> Well, let's chat! Let me forwarn you-I will be on vacation from
sd> 22 December to 28 December, so I won't be answering my mail...
sd> but, I *DO* love the 80's sounds... ask anyone who knows me. I'm
sd> known as Depeche_Mode on LambdaMOO (telnet lambda.moo.mud.org
sd> 8888). I also owned my own dj dance shop and was a Dj for a while
sd> too.
Cool. I used to DJ for a mobile that did all the villages in my area. When
I eventually moved down to the capital city I landed a job as a DJ in a
nightclub. As I was very used to playing all the disco hits, not the
up-to-date dance anthems, I hit the bullseye and my night, "Taxi" was soon
the hottest around. So what do you do now then? Do you still have the
shop? DJing is loads of fun and loads of grief all in one package. I
couldn't do the stuff that you need to do now to compete with the top
boys, but I could still handle a disco classics stint!
Merry Christmas by the way!!
