LP>-> I'm dialoguing with a person in another conference, who is going to
LP>-> post an essay to me stating his views on "the Indian problem." I
LP>-> already basically know them, however. He wants to see the government
LP>-> stop honoring *all* treaties, eliminate *all* reservations, and
LP>-> simply have "one law for all people."
Jumping in here, he probably votes a straight GOP ticket. We have them
around here in politics, no friend of anyone except those in their own
class.
LP>-> I've gotten enough similar comments on the various writers and poetry
LP>-> conferences I belong to to know for certain this idea is fairly
LP>-> popular among many groups right now; and not just among some of the
LP>-> less educated groups either.
Been popular ever since the Army was sent in to kill off women and
children or blankets given out that had smallpox in them. The first
English folks who came here managed to get along with those that they
found before them, then what I call "the others" came afterwards, folks
who were city dwellers essentially and had no connection to the earth at
all.
These are the same people that are causing the flooding by building mega
real estate developments, who created the situation that led to the dust
that preceeded the last depression, etc. etc.
Short sighted, greedy, bent on material gain.
