Working for me right now using:
mpg321 http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_radio2_mf_p

Wget also downloads an MP3 that plays with mpg321 (mpg123 should be
equivalent).

One possible difference is that the stream is 48000Hz audio, while
others often use 44100Hz. That normally wouldn't matter much except
for a little more CPU usage, but maybe there's a problem there
somewhere (in which case there may be problems with playing local
MP3 files that use 48000Hz sampling rate as well).
