Time is money.  If you can shave a day off the Earth-Andor run, which ship
are the customers going to take?  Why did airlines kill the passenger
shipping business?  It wasn't based on luxury and comfort. Speed, purely
speed.

AISI passenger shipping is back to the days of of the great passenger
liners.  The Blue Ribbon lives again but this time for each run between
various Worlds.  Just because an engineer is not Starfleet makes them no
less the innovator and designer.  I have little doubt that the various
shipping lines dangle incentives in front of Starfleet trained engineers
that are difficult to ignore.  The later would even run their own training
programs.

There was a time in the age of steam with the engineer had to understand
his engines very well.  He might be required to break one down and rebuild
it at sea.  And he had to know why things worked, not just the how.  Well
star travel imposes the same requirements

Fly SS Swift.  Holder of the Centauri Blue Ribbon.  23h 16m to Centaris and
Kent  3d 7h to Vulcan.  Travel in the utmost luxury and speed.
