subject: Possible problem with net

EW ->... but afterwards it sometimes happens that even though the
   ->program thinks that a new record is appended, that actually
   ->isn't the case, and consequently existing records can be
   ->overwritten.
   ->Until now this happened only 3 times in about 6 months, but
   ->always from a W95 workstation, and I can't reproduce the
   ->problem. But if it happens in a 'general ledger' database (it
   ->did), I've got a problem sure enough...
Some people have reported an identical problem with Visual Objects 2.0
in that the append returned .T., and an existing record was
overwritten because a new record was not actually appended. The fellow
who did the most testing is absolutely positive that it only happens if
the offending workstation is not the "bought-in-the-store" Windows 95a
version, but rather the "OEM-only OSR2 Windows 95b" version. This OSR2
version is supplied only on new computers and sometimes on new hard
drives.
I'd suggest checking the version of Windows 95 that it's occurring on.
He said the only fix is to remove the OSR2 version and install the
retail version of Windows 95a.
Please report back on what you find. If true, this could be _real_ bad.
