EV>TW>EV>My first RX was a Hallicrafters S-38E, it had a switch to turn on a BF EV>TW>EV>to listen to CW or SSB (if you could call the circuitry in the S-38E a EV>BFO EV>TW>EV>IIRC it was just a wire routed around some sections in the chassis tha EV>TW>EV>got 'switched in'. EV>TW>Interesting, My first SW Reciever was a S-38 also. I picked up mine in EV>TW>1948. I dropped out of that hobby during my 20 years in the Navy but EV>TW>after I retired I aquired a Kenwood R1000 reciever. EV>TW>I also have a Kenwood TS-440 that my father gave me in his declining EV>TW>years. EV>Tom, EV>The S-38 receiver my friend who introduced me to SW Radio was a D model. EV>The S-38D had two D shaped windows, a reversed D and a D side by side. EV>The S-38E that I got had the Sliderule style dial. the D was the one I had. Nice little reciever for it's day. EV>TW>Putting up an antenna is a roundtuit project. EV>Be CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one of the reasons I have not done it yet. But both are easy projects. A 30 foot pole on one of my house and a 30 foot pole tired to the Freeway Fence 100 feet away for the G5RV and a 15 foot pole on the back of the house for a Comet 6 meter vertical. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ Typo Tom strikes agaoin* Origin: Fidonet Since 1991 And Still Here.
