Advice I should have taken:  when I was a young troop an older NCO once
told me that I should buy a house at every stateside base where I was
stationed.  When transferred, contract with a local agent to keep it rented
(thus letting somebody else make your house payment).  At the end of a 20 year
career one would then have four or five houses to choose from, pick one and sell
the others.  'course, as it turned out, I was only permanently stationed at *one*
base, and when I got there I'd already been in over 8 years (11.5 years later I
was still there - here, actually, Offutt AFB - and retired - and 25 years after
that I'm still here ).

I think the operation in question here was a training installation for Blackwater,
not a military installation.
