A member of fathers' rights group Fathers 4 Justice has climbed to the top
of the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle.
Stephen Fletcher had to breach heavy security on the eve of the Labour Party
spring conference.


Delegates are due to start arriving for the three-day conference today.

The activist apparently rolled out of a moving car in order to breach heavy
security at the Tyneside landmark.

A spokesman for the group said Sunderland-based Mr Fletcher, who is in his
late 30s, had avoided around 30 uniformed officers on patrol on the bridge.

Mr Fletcher, who works as a scaffolder, is dressed as Superman.

The group said he is planning to stay on the bridge overnight.
