Thanks, Bill.  That tells me pretty much what I wanted to know, and will 
probably mean another trip back to Radio Shack to trade in another scanner. 
(Not only do the employees recognize me by sight now, but some of the other 
regular customers are starting to say hi to me when I walk in.)
Too bad you don't work for Radio Shack.  You'd be able to tell us when the 
replacement for the 2042 will be out and if it would be better just to wait 
for it...
