Yep, I added it to give glimpses into what -others- think about
human nature.

I'll try.
DM> John! there is ""cost elsewhere"" and even not so elsewhere,
I do agree there is "cost elsewhere" but not sure what you
mean by "even not so elsewhere." I translate the words
"even not so elsewhere" to mean "there is not cost elsewhere."
Somehow, I don't think this is your intent.

This would be consistent with "cost elsewhere." IOW, no matter
-who-, government, or "OTHER" (not quite sure what you mean by
"OTHER"), there will be cost elsewhere.

I am not sure "luck of time and circumstance" determines what
effort will be good for -MOST-. I do believe luck -does- play
a part in what effort will be good on a individual level and
perhaps on a cultural level.
However, from Thomas Sowell's "Migration and Culture", Sowell
discussed -how- well different cultures such as Chinese,
German, Italian, Jews, Indian, etc did over hundreds of years
and globally. There Sowell found -MOST- of Jews regardless of
the time and geographical location (Europe, South Africa, North
and South America) did very well. Hence, my reasoning to
ponder if "luck" had anything to do with it. If so, then
why did Jews, Germans, Chinese do well over hundreds of years
and in many different countries?

I do agree with parts, unsure in some areas, and perhaps disagree
on others.

Take care,
