-> CH> Hmm. Did you notice if the power band moved up or down? I wonder if
-> CH> it's too much cam for the carb/ports/compression?

->Overall, power is down across the band, with a slight bent to higher end
->capabilities. That brute-force-grunt just doesn't seem to be there at any
->speed.

That sounds very much like the "too much cam" syndrome. At low RPM the
overlap bleeds off the already low compression, and dilutes the intake
charge. As RPM increases, the small valves and ports restrict flow. A
no-win scenario.

-> CH> I'm looking for a 454 throttle body myself.

->I was told the big block tbi unit (and its adaptor) will bolt to a typical
->4bbl manifold. Have I been mis-informed on that?

I think so. The 454 TBI is the same three bolt mount as the smaller 305/350
version. The only difference is the 2" bore. A fair bit bigger. And, the
injectors themselves have more flow capacity. To use it on a SB manifold
requires some machine work to match the bores.

-> ->Currently we're about 10 below freezing..

-> CH> Our high has been at or below freezing for much of the past month.

->I typed that too soon. Last night we hit a new record low of -27C (with a mi
->40 somthing windchill). Todays been hovering around -18. D*mn cold!

I saw that on the news. Yikes! -40 is cold in either C or F. The same,
actually.  It's the crossover point.
