How do you start htick now?

Mine is included into the scan-toss script. It is a shell script file, the
most generic option to do things one after or before another.

Your task is not similar to hpt perl support: hpt docs:

The following Perl hooks are supported:
{at}item 1.
 after_unpack - called after unpacking an echomail bundle to {at}code{TempInbound}
{at}item 2.
 before_pack - called before packing echomail bundle to one of links
{at}item 3.
 process_pkt - called before processing pkt,

Perl support have to be inside of hpt because hpt performs different steps
inside. It needs a hook to inject modifications between those steps.

Your task of fixing tick files can be done before htick starts via its
invoking script. Don't let it be too complicate, think about the KISS
principle. ;)

I'm not that deep into tick files conepts, so maybe i'm wrong if i get a
little bit shocked now. Who would like to cut a long desc line? It sounds
to me like fixing something that is not broken.

If you got a tic that needs to be fixed, contact the one who send you
broken tic files.

I closed my filebase long ago, so i'm outdated, but i found old tic
definitions in my archiv:

          Description of the file, limited to 80 characters per line,
          including CRLF termination.
          If  multiple LDESC lines are used, the DESC line must provide the
          maximum information.  No File Forwadrer is required to passthough
          or make use of any extra DESC line after the first.

          A  long description of the file.  LDESC does NOT replace DESC, it
          is  used IN ADDITION to the short description.  No File Forwarder
          is required make use of LESC lines.


Depending on your system you should be careful where you act, a
modification of the tic file itself may break the desc/ldesc for your
downlinks.
