Bought the C /C++ Interactive tutorial on CD-ROM a few days ago. First
thing like this I've seen and I'm using it with great expectation. It is
issued by Prentice Hall and sells for around $40.00. Now I can read the
chapters, flip to the code and listen to one of them go through the lines of
code with detailed explanation. Since the code sometimes runs through more
than one screen, I found it judicious to print out the examples so as to have
the entire thing to look at while Mr. Deitel is running through it. FAR
better than the ordinary C++ tutors and especially since there is no tutorial
echo in the language on Fidonet.
Another interesting aspect of this is that the novice or student gets to
hear the programmer actually use the names that are used for the various
operators and expressions. I had never thought of "!=" as being called "bang
gets."
I just happened on this program while browsing the Computer store. I'm
not throwing away all of the other books I've bought - just making this the
centerpiece.
Sincerely,
Frank
