 I have both a 1200XL and an 800XL. It's the 800XL with the bad
keyboard. Since I haven't opened either computer up in years and don't
remember what they are like inside, I need to know if both models
keyboards use the same connectors and controller chips.
I just dug out one of my spare 1200XL keyboards. The ribbon cable has a
connector on the end.
If I remember correctly , the 800XL keyboard ribbon cable doesn't have
a connector, but that one side of the cable is bare, exposing the traces
on the cable, which then plug into a connector on the main board.
I can see why you put the 800XL into the 1200XL case. It doesn't look
as if there is enough room to fit the 1200XL keyboard into the 800XL
case. It looks like it would be much easier to put a connector in the
800XL case and put the 1200XL keyboard into an external case. If anyone
else has tried to do this I would appreciate any advice on how to
proceed.
