You also invalidate the need for convoy and the ability of Jem'hadar ships
or anyone else to engage in deep space. Starfleet could keep it heavy
units at the terminal points instead of following the freighters around.
Since they can only be attacked when at sublight speeds, the attackers
wouldn't hang around in deep space either.
Making warp less sacrosanct and torpedoes a bit zippyer is better
dramatically as I see it.
