A typical woman wants someone who is more successful than she is, and
this is true both for hotel maids and orthopedic surgeons.  No matter
how much she makes, she wants someone who makes more, so if she's
highly successful, she narrows her pool of potential mates, making it
less likely that she'll find one.
Conversely, a woman who is open to the entire population of men is more
likely to find someone she likes, and who likes her.
