Do you need to mount it using SCSI emulation?  I let K3b take care of this for me
- does the latest Knoppix have it? (I only have 3.1).  If it does, you can go
into K3b (the KDE cd burner app) and let it detect and set up your drives
for you.  It will then write the info (if you want it to) to your
/etc/fstab file.
