UNICEF and the UN are not the same thing.  UNICEF is an organization underneath
the UN umbrella that is funded independently of the parent organization.  It is
entirely voluntary, and only those nations who wish to volunteer resources do
so.

I don't think it's failed.  I look at it much like, hmmm, the Iraqi or
Palestinian democracies.  See, democracies don't always go the way the big guys
want them to go.  So the big guys meddle with elections, voting, etc., and then
point at how broken the system is when it doesn't work.

The western nations are the nations with veto power.  They're the ones who
often can simply make things go away (especially in the security council, where
so much is done) with a single vote.  If that isn't circumventing democractic
principles, I don't know what does.

Yes, I have a very big problem with 300-400 million people being vaporized.
However, the US doesn't have to worry about the UN standing in our way there.
Hell, we even use UN resolutions as justification for war, then complain when
the UN does not sanction our actions!
