Replying to a message of Steve Kemp to Alan Hess: SK> Of course I do turn them on every once and awhile and scan every SK> couple of months...with no hits. SK> And I've NEVER gotten a virus or been hacked. SK> Even on my old 'puters, years ago. SK> Gee, I feel left out. I've read that the time between one logs on to the Internet and the time of the first attempt to get into his/her computer is less than fifteen minutes. If your machines are on the net 24x7 I don't see how you could have escaped at least the attempts. I briefly worked at a local (Omaha) bank (my job was being outsourced to them and I was training their people) and got into a discussion with one of the network gurus there. He said that they were being hit by cyberattacks constantly; at that time, fortunately, the attacks had all been unsuccessful. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 226/0 SEEN-BY: 236/150 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1417 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 320/119 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 200 SEEN-BY: 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
