Hi Teresa,
RH> copy. I know you're not a beginning sewer so maybe I'll send you a
RH> "beta" version so you can critique it. I also have to do the
RH> drawings
TH> I would be honored to do this for you. And I understand about the
TH> wait. We got my DH's daughter married off in September last year, and
TH> know all about the preparations. And I didn't have to make anything
TH> for it. We just had to pay for it.
TH> When things settle down, I would be glad to critique and help make
TH> suggestions, etc.
That would be great! I've got to dig up the rough draft I made some
time ago and see if it still makes sense to me. Very often I write "off
the top of my head" so I have to go back and see how it reads to
somebody else. I've given a couple of things to non sewers to read over
and gotten positive feed back so I know, if I set my mind to it, it will
read OK. The technical drawing part is "fun" too, have to do it in a
way that is clear to anybody and will replicate well.
What day in Sept. last year did your step daughter get married? Steve
and I celebrate on the 20th of Sept.; this year will be 22 years.
Rachel was talking with a friend of ours (before she decidedon the June
date) about the possiblility of a Sept. wedding but didn't want to do it
on the 20th as "it was mom's anniversary." Our friend's husband
overhead and asked "What about your dad; when's his anniversary?" It
took Rachel a few seconds to realise what she'd said but they had a good
laugh over it. I guess she said it because of my having to single
parent this past year (Steve will be back in 2 1/2 weeks!!!!!!).
I invested in a set of these EZ Winders; you can wind a spool of thread
from a cone using the bobbin winder on the sewing machine. The first
spool I wound looked crummy; the second one somewhat better. The third
I've wound (so far) looks pretty decent. One thing I found out about it
is that I had to guide the thread wrapping around the spool all the time
it was winding. That can get tiresome. Also, you have to make sure the
winder is set firmly into the spool; if not, then the spool can go
flying once you get the winding going at a good rate. I've got a sewing
machine where the bobbin is wound off the front side, comes out sideways
instead of straight up (if you know what I mean) so that may make a
difference. All in all however, it looks like this may be a worth while
investment. I'm going to see if I can use the little winder thing will
work on regular spools in addition to the ones that came with it; I'll
let you know.
Catch you later,
Ruth
