Replying to a message of John Massey to Daniel Prather: JM> I think if you pulled US funding AND SUPPORT. No troops, no planes, no JM> trucks, ships, food stock, medicine, personal on loan from CDC, or JM> any other government agency, cut off every penny, take back the JM> building, the land and all the office space used by every one that JM> gets a pay check either directly or indirectly because of the UN, and JM> kick the origination out of the country, that would go along way to JM> destroying a huge threat to this country. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Now just suppose that happened. Okay, the UN headquarters moves from New York City, where NSA can easily spy on everybody in it and the US government can (and does) plant spies throughout the building as guards, cleaning crews, building maintenance personnel etc., to Berne, Switzerland, where it'll be a LOT harder for that to happen. You could also expect that in short order the US would lose its overseas bases and overflight rights (for government aircraft) all over the planet. First all US military and civilian personnel and dependents would be restricted to the confines of the various bases and when the treaties with the host countries expired they would be required to leave. It is also quite likely that the Euro would replace the dollar in international trade. That's likely to happen anyway, but such an action by the US government would surely accelerate the trend. And when that happens overseas investors will be less likely to purchase US government debt instruments - which means that the US government will not be able to keep refinancing that enormous national debt. The US would also most likely lose a lot of trade, and a lot of the remaining trade would become more expensive - and that would require that a lot of manufacturing be brought back into this country. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/300 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1417 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 633/260 267 285 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
