-=> Quoting James Bradley to Tika Carr <=- JB> Tell *me* about it! I buy pieces of crap from auction, and pick up JB> bails of SCSI drives for nothing. So far, my #1 runs SATA, #2 IDE + JB> SCSI, and I'm working on the HW to two SCSI systems, with cached RAID JB> controllers. It gives me a reason to burn electricity... I mean, wake JB> up in the morning. I won't even start with the pile of junk I have JB> crammed into an anvil case. Quite a lot of goodies! I used to collect computer parts too, and once put together a whole system. I still have a few parts here and there but I tend to try to be basic. Though how I got the two laptops was a rather interesting story. I was browsing the local small comp shop up the street from me and was looking at laptops. I then decided it'd be nice to get one to use as a remote keyboard to my main system so I could work if I was sick in bed (which has been a lot lately). I also got a wireless setup. So, after I get all that going, a friend decides to get me a NEW laptop. So that is the one I use the most, and I don't need the other computer on all the time either. JB> Elsewhere, I found out cmd.com (or was it .exe... Just looked, and W2K JB> has command.com, cmd.exe AND CMD.EXE! 8-) was edging out command.com, JB> and it gets harder to run with each release. Why am I not surprised? Yeah. M$ has been trying to phase out DOS for a long time now. I'm surprised there is any type of it in Vista, but there is. JB> A shell account connected me here in '90, or '91. PPP wasted my time JB> until about five years ago. Because this sysop provides NG and email JB> gates, I only get my fill of WB through community connections now. JB> That's *plenty!* I still do internet. I have to as that is where my work is now. I work as a web developer/programmer/linux LAMP (web server) admin. I enjoy it, though. I'm amazed how far the internet has come. Heck, I even watch some old-time TV shows via internet! :) JB> Well, as Nancy is likely too busy looking up her family tree, or JB> chasing the wizard's wand, I guess I'll formally welcome you JB> back! Thank you. LOL! She's been around the echoes though. More than I do. I am adding the BBS stuff to my morning 'pass' though. But sometimes I might not post for awhile if I've been busy with stuff or down sick. That's the way I am with the forums on the internet that I follow. But it's nice to know it's still there. :) Tika ... Not tonight, dear. I have a modem. ___ Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: ::The Holodeck BBS:: telnet://holodeck.myip.us (1:261/1381) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 300 34/999 90/1 106/1 120/228 123/500 134/10 140/1 SEEN-BY: 222/2 226/0 236/150 249/303 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 SEEN-BY: 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 396/45 633/104 260 267 285 690/682 734 SEEN-BY: 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 2905/0 @PATH: 261/1381 38 633/260 267 |
