Well, I think many of you have missed the point entirely. My original
post was to someone that had an obvious problem with lack of memory.
I simply quoted the REQUIREMENTS specified by the MANUFACTURER!
You are failing to hear the part about "the more memory for cache
buffers, the better your system will perform".
If there's TOO much too little RAM, the server won't come up AT ALL!
I once had a V-8 automobile that got me from place to place
running on 4 cylinders. Certainly not optimally, but hey, IT WORKED!
However, I doubt it would have even started, had ONE MORE plug been
fouled.
Just because you can "squeeze by", doesn't make it right.
How about it Jonathan, did additional memory cure your problem?
Of course it did.
