We have a 26" in Charlotte's room, and a 21" in the sunroom (sunroom one is
just hooked to PS2 etc).
Livingroom is a nice 38" flat screen sort. As we get older, we found we
really needed the bigger one to be able to enjoy TV well. Eyesight not what
it once was. It's not a top of the line big thing, but a simple Olivia 700$
HDTV sort.

I'm with ya. I use stuff til it dies, then replace with what is needed. Some
times top of the line replacement (when it makes sense) and sometimes with a
simple thing (such as the flat screen TV, 52" was just too much both in size
and money).
I went top of the line with the sunroom, as that matters. House now down to
owing just 35,000$ or so left and payments way less (even with insurance and
taxes) than rent.
