This is something I see more and more. People want a cheque but they don't want to work. My job (well, the job in parking in general) is one of the easiest and best (most of the time) yet so many people that go into security seem to think they will just sit behind a desk in some cozy office and do nothing all day. We are out in the field and so long as a person does their job I have no complaints. But we whiners about it being hot/cold, wet/dry, walking, etc. I tell people straight up when they start working the conditions and if they don't want to do that let me know now. There are no hard feelings since different people are suitable to different jobs. I don't try to force a round peg into a square hole. Back to setting the example a second. I had a super several years ago when I was temping with residence services in the summer. This one fella was rising though the ranks and at that time was a supervisor yet was right in there working with the guys. His boss told him he was not to do that. I can't recall her exact words but something along the lines of not being managerial and wasn't seen as an authority figure. He said he got more work out of his people by working along side them than sitting in an office issuing orders. :) Joe --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.16 (Windows/20080708)* Origin: Fidonet Via Your Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 90/1 120/228 123/500 138/666 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 SEEN-BY: 320/119 396/45 633/260 267 285 712/848 801/161 189 2222/700 2320/100 SEEN-BY: 2320/105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
