Hey Sean! Apr 06 13:06 04, Sean Dennis wrote to Maurice Kinal: SD> If someone's got the source code, then why don't they write it SD> "native" under Linux? I am not sure but I think a real big problem is that there are mostly Windows boxes out there that don't interface well with BBS's, nevermind native Linux BBS's, which is why I haven't gotten too excighted about getting one going. Besides most of the problem isn't the lack of native Linux BBS packages or terminal ommunication packages but with Fido compatibility. Squish is what attracted me here at first but now I am not sure anymore. SD> may not be able to make Maximus into a true Linux-native program, but SD> at least I can write some doors that don't require DOSemu. ;) That would probably generate quite a bit of interest. That has been a question I have heard asked, probably as much as what Linux BBS packages there are. If you're asking what BBS I would run or like to run, I still don't know, but a native Linux networking capable Maximus would certainly raise an eyebrow or two in this neck of the woods. I used to run a DOS one back in the Jurrasic Period when that particular dinosaur ruled PC world. :-) Life is good, Maurice --- Msged/LNX 6.1.1* Origin: Little Mikey's Brain BBS - A work in progress (1:153/401.1) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 153/401 307 140/1 106/2000 633/267 |
