back in the day before i was a sysop, we had all kinds of macros in our editors
we used for our QWK offline mail stuffs... they were pretty and colorful back
then but functionality became more desirable than fancy quoting and "walt
disney puked here" colorful messages ;)

my favorite quoting in the ancient days of yor was a colored box completely
around what i quoted with the original writer's name in the top part of the
frame and a drop shadow on the right edge and bottom of the box... that was so
long ago that i doubt that i could even come close with the macro that did all
the drawing and formatting of the content of the box... they were really nasty
to fix up after someone else quoted your quotes and stuff...
